Artist Statement: Mark Bowers
My work exists at the intersection of lived experience and cinematic remix, viewing filmmaking as a meditative process of gathering people, places, and lessons. In projects like Day Tripper, I utilize a nonlinear structure to reflect the evolving nature of memory and the art of storytelling itself.
By serving as the primary writer, director, cinematographer, and lead editor, I maintain a singular creative pulse throughout the entire production pipeline. My process is defined by a “full-stack” technical approach—leveraging the high-dynamic range of the Sony FX3 for cinematic sequences alongside the intimate, handheld feel of the Canon 70D. I balance raw, organic handheld work with precise gimbal stabilization and integrate Sennheiser wireless audio with bespoke animation sequences to bridge the gap between realism and a poetic narrative.
Ultimately, my goal is to invite the viewer into a thought-provoking reflection where the technical execution—from field audio to complex post-production workflows—is as intentional as the story being told.

• Primary Cinema Workflow: Utilized the Sony FX3 Cinema Line for high-dynamic-range 10-bit capture, ensuring professional-grade color science and institutional quality.
• Mixed-Media Integration: Seamlessly blended 4K cinema footage with textural b-roll from Canon DSLR systems, demonstrating a mastery of nonlinear narrative and visual consistency.
• Camera Movement & Stabilization: Executed dynamic sequences using a combination of Electronic Gimbal systems and stabilized handheld operation to drive the emotional pace of the film.
• Audio Engineering: Captured high-fidelity dialogue and environmental textures using Sennheiser Wireless systems and Zoom Field Recorders.
• Post-Production & Motion Graphics: Lead editorial performed in Adobe Premiere Pro, featuring bespoke animation sequences and digital layers designed in Adobe After Effects.
• Color & Sound Design: Advanced color grading and immersive sound design were engineered to unify the project’s mixed-media elements into a cohesive cinematic experience.
